Speak English at the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris!
Jean and I are inviting you to join us for a walk around the museum, where we can practise our spoken English, improve our fluency, and broaden our cultural horizons.
Here are just a few of the fascinating things we can discover together:
- Foucault’s pendulum, which demonstrates that the Earth rotates on its axis.
- Clément Ader’s Éole II, an early flying machine designed to fly under its own power, heavier than air.
- Louis Blériot’s Type XI aircraft, famous for its historic crossing of the English Channel.
- Lavoisier’s chemistry laboratory and the famous principle: “Nothing is created, nothing is lost, everything is transformed.”
- Pascal’s adding machine, an early mechanical calculator.
- The Cray-1 supercomputer, a landmark in the history of computing.
- And many other fascinating scientific and technological objects!
A free outing!
Admission is free on the first Sunday of every month.
Our goal is simple: to improve our English while discovering and better understanding the technological heritage that has shaped our world.
Come and join us for a fun and enriching experience!

A few practical details
This outing is designed for small groups of 3 to 5 people.
We want you to feel completely free to explore the museum at your own pace and in your own way. You choose what you would like to see, and we will follow your lead!
As we walk around together, we can chat in English and share our thoughts and discoveries.
We are both passionate about science and technology, and we love this museum. We would be delighted to share our enthusiasm with you!
We will send you our mobile phone numbers in advance, which may come in handy if we need to contact each other.
How do we get started?
First, we will queue at the ticket desk in the entrance hall to collect our free admission tickets.
Although admission is free on the first Sunday of the month, we still need a ticket to take the lift to the starting point of our visit on the second floor.
So, come along, practise your English, discover some amazing inventions, and, above all, have fun with us!
