Speak English & visit le musée du CNAM, Conservatoire National des Arts & Métiers
I suggest an outing to walk & practice, improve our oral English & enrich our culture.
Some ideas:
- The Foucault pendulum to show that the Earth is turning on itself.
- The 'Eole 2' of Clément Ader (first flying identified object) heavier than air.
- The chemical laboratory of Lavoisier (Nothing is created, nothing is lost, every thing is transformed).
- The adding Machine from Pascal.
- The Cray 1, a scalar very powerfull computer (World Wide Record).
- & A lot of technical objects, very interesting.
It's a free outing because the museum is free on the first Sunday of the month.
I
The goal is: improve our English & better understand our roots.
Let' have fun together!
Jef
PS :
- For this outing, you have to manage by your own: it cannot be a group guided visit because of the covid, but I can answer questions from the person walking aside me.
If you get there ahead, first you can queue at the ticket desk, inside the entrance hall & there ask for a free ticket. On the first Sunday of the month, the museum is free, but you NEED IT to take the lift to the beginning of the visit (second floor).
At the begining of the visit, on the second floor, just out from the lift, is a galery for a BORING exhibition of measuring tools (time, length, pressure...). The museum IS HUGE & RICH. Don't spend your precious time here, drop this boring part, & enjoy your visit.
